Inspired by his father, who ran trucks and a small repair shop back in their home country of Costa Rica, Carlos grew up understanding the grit and dedication it takes to keep vehicles on the road. After immigrating to the United States, his father transitioned from driving trucks to doing odd jobs, eventually managing a repair shop. Those experiences shaped Carlos’s own path and instilled in him the value of perseverance and community.
As a one-man operation, Pistons and Gears first served customers from its Hollywood Avenue location in Roselle before relocating to Flemington. Carlos’s vision was simple: to bring the same level of care and dedication his father showed in his small Costa Rican shop to truckers and fleet operators in New Jersey. Today, that vision lives on as Carlos continues to provide expert heavy-duty repairs, whether at his outdoor workspace or wherever his mobile service van is needed.
